Privacy Policy
Welcome to MyHalloweenHouse.com ("we", "our", or "us"). We operate an interactive community map of decorated Halloween houses and trick-or-treat candy stops across Canada and the United States.
1. Information We Collect
- Homeowner & Candy Giver Submissions: When you submit a decorated house or a Candy Giver stop, we collect the property street address, city, province/state, postal/ZIP code, display hours, scare rating, uploaded display photos, optional social media handle, homeowner name, email address, and your explicit consent timestamp (ISO-8601).
- Public Map Data vs. Private Contact Details: Your submitted property address, display title, display hours, scare level, and uploaded house photos are displayed publicly on the map so trick-or-treaters and families can find your display. Your email address and full name are kept private and are never displayed publicly on the map.
- Voting & Route Planner Data: We store anonymous vote tallies and browser local storage keys to prevent duplicate contest voting and to save your custom "Map My Tour" stop list.
2. Homeowner Consent & Communications
By checking the homeowner consent box upon submission, you confirm that you are the homeowner or authorized resident of the listed property and grant MyHalloweenHouse.com permission to publish your listing on our interactive map, feature submitted photos on our social media channels, and send you contest updates, seasonal reminders, and sponsor prize announcements. You may request instant removal of your house pin or unsubscribe at any time.
3. Google AdSense, Cookies & Third-Party Advertising
We use third-party advertising companies (including Google AdSense and Mediavine Journey) to serve ads when you visit our website. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
4. Payment Processing (Stripe)
Optional upgrades (such as Featured House Gold Pins and Local Business Sponsor Pins) are processed securely via Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers on our servers.
5. Removal Requests & Contact
To remove a house listing immediately or inquire about privacy practices, email us at [email protected].
